Time & Macro Events/
Trading Sessions (Killzones)
TL;DR
In Smart Money Concepts, time is just as important as price. The market unfolds in a predictable daily cycle known as the Power of 3 (AMD): Accumulation, Manipulation, and Distribution, driven by global exchange opening hours.
How It Works
- 1
Asian Range (Accumulation): Typically 00:00 - 08:00 UTC. A tight consolidation period during the Tokyo session that builds liquidity pools on both sides (Asian High / Asian Low).
- 2
London Killzone (Manipulation): Typically 07:00 - 10:00 UTC. The Frankfurt/London open often generates the 'Judas Swing' — an aggressive fake move to sweep Asian stop-losses, providing the perfect reversal entry.
- 3
New York Killzone (Distribution): Typically 13:00 - 16:00 UTC. The US open brings the highest global volume. The market often expands in the true direction established during the London session.
- 4
Rule of Thumb: Trading outside primary Killzones (e.g., during the NY Lunch Time 16:00 - 18:00 UTC) carries a high risk of chop and spread expansion.
LiquidMind's AI agent natively incorporates session context into its decision funnel. Depending on user configuration, the system can either actively halt trading during highly volatile session opens (Killzones) to protect capital from erratic spread expansion, or use the active session to dynamically weight POI setups. The agent evaluates the time of day against global liquidity cycles, ensuring that a setup forming during a low-volume period is scored far more conservatively than one aligning with the New York and London overlap.
